#RUatNAF2025 | Unmasking GBV: A Vital Performance by Rhodes University Drama Department
This year, the stage becomes a crucial platform for conversations around Gender-Based Violence (GBV) and its devastating dynamics. WOUNDS is a compelling double bill bravely confronting these themes.
WOUNDS features two impactful productions. "The Dinner" by Swelihle May explores the intricate power dynamics that can lead to GBV. Following this, "Four Seasons" by Nikita Baloyi delves into the aftermath of trauma and the healing journey. Adding to its impact, members of the Rhodes University African Chorus lend their powerful voices to Baloyi's production.
We're incredibly proud to see Rhodes University students using their artistic voices to address such critical societal issues. This is more than just theatre; it's a call to reflection, understanding, and ultimately, action against GBV.
Join the conversation and be part of the change. Secure your tickets now for WOUNDS at:

We're incredibly proud to announce that the School of Journalism and Media Studies' own Dr. Chikezie Uzuegbunam has been elected Vice-Chair of the Audience Studies Section of the International Association for Media and Communication Research (IAMCR).
This is a major milestone within the top international association for media and communication studies. As Dr. Uzuegbunam put it, "It is a great privilege to be able to serve the organisation that I consider my academic home in a leadership role such as this. What an honour to be voted in alongside two other scholars to serve as vice-chairs from 2025 to 2029."
With over a decade as an IAMCR member, Dr. Uzuegbunam's experience makes him an ideal choice for this leadership position. We know his contributions to the Audience Studies Section, which promotes fresh perspectives in media audience research, will be invaluable.
