One Hundred and Twenty years of Excellence.
Reunite, reconnect, reimagine.
Rhodes University (RU) is planning a year-long celebration of its bidecacentennial anniversary in 2024. This is a moment for critical reflection and strategic re-imagination for growth and sustainability, drawing from our collective resolve and working with our stakeholders. Our IDP is the lodestar in this regard.
RU120 is about:
- Amplifying our scholarly voice in social commentary and the public domain.
- Showcasing academic, research and community engagement excellence.
- Resource mobilisation
- Infrastructure development and beautification.
- Brand development and positioning
Taking a step back in time: Did you know that three decades ago, a gutsy, pragmatic group of Rhodes University academics created email in this country, opening the digital gateway between South Africa and the world?
